Pakistan

Because of the great regional significance of Pakistan, CIM resumed its activities there in 2005 after a long break. CIM’s strategic activities in Pakistan are concentrated mainly in the development policy priority areas agreed between Pakistan and Germany. These areas are:  

• energy (renewable energies and energy efficiency)
• primary health system, family planning, HIV/AIDS
• basic education.

In close cooperation with GIZ, CIM supports – for example – centralised institutions in reforming the energy sector and intends to increase its commitment to the expansion of the primary health system.

With the Returning Experts Programme, CIM also supports Pakistani experts returning to Pakistan after studying, undertaking vocational training or working in Germany. They work primarily as managers in the private sector or as university lecturers.
