CIM’s strategic activities in the Dominican Republic take place mainly in the development policy priority area agreed between the Dominican Republic and Germany: environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources.This primarily involves bringing the imperatives of environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources into accord with the country’s economic and social development. In recent years the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic has gained greatly in significance. What does this mean for natural biotopes and protected areas? What concepts for their use make sense from a tourism perspective, as well as from economic and ecological viewpoints? These are the issues occupying CIM experts in the Dominican Republic.
