Bolivia

CIM’s strategic activities in Bolivia take place mainly in the development policy priority areas agreed between Bolivia and Germany. These areas are:

  • administrative reform, judicial reform and civil society
  • sustainable agriculture
  • water and sanitation.

Bolivia is a priority area partner country of German and international Development Cooperation in Latin America. In consequence, the activities of CIM in Bolivia are very extensive at present. Intensification of cooperation in all sectors is planned, with special focus on strengthening and integrating civil society, and building expertise at the decentralised level, for instance, in municipal associations.

Additionally, CIM is active in Bolivia in the following cross-cutting themes of German Development Cooperation:

  • poverty reduction
  • gender
  • environmental protection.

In response to the request of partners with special development policy relevance, CIM experts are also working to establish renewable energies and the conservation of nature in Bolivia. Here CIM makes use of its scope to act outside development policy priority areas.

GIZ supports CIM in the implementation of its programmes and cooperates closely with CIM experts on the ground.

With the Returning Experts Programme, CIM also supports Bolivian experts returning to Bolivia after studying, undertaking vocational training or working in Germany.
