EthiopiaCIM’s strategic activities in Ethiopia take place mainly in the development policy priority areas agreed between Ethiopia and Germany. These areas are:
CIM is working to intensify future cooperation, particularly in economic development. This purpose is served by the comprehensive Engineering Capacity-Building Programme launched at the end of 2005. Several German development cooperation implementing organisations are involved in the programme, including GTZ, Capacity Building International, Germany (InWent) and the KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW development bank). CIM, too, has a part in this through the placement of numerous experts, notably in the construction sector. In response to the request of partners with special development policy relevance, CIM has also been active in conflict transformation and in promoting interethnic understanding in Ethiopia. Here CIM makes use of its scope to act outside development policy priority areas. GTZ supports CIM in implementing its programmes on the ground and cooperates closely with CIM experts, e.g. in the programmes:
